CHampionship golf in the texas hill country

Residents and members alike retreat to Comanche Trace to experience the carefree lifestyle of resort living. At the heart of the community is a private, 27-hole championship golf course offering exceptional play, breathtaking Hill Country views, and year-round conditions.

Comanche Trace is home to three distinct nine-hole layouts—The Valley, The Hills, and The Creeks—that can be combined to create a variety of challenging and memorable 18-hole experiences. Each nine offers its own character, natural beauty, and strategic challenges, making every round unique.

A Distinctive Golf Experience

Comanche Trace is one of the few courses in Central Texas to offer a bentgrass putting-green experience, a playing surface prized for its smooth, true roll. While Bermuda grass is common throughout the warmer climates of Texas, the area’s elevation and climate help create conditions well suited to bentgrass.

At approximately 1,000 feet higher in elevation than San Antonio and Austin, Kerrville enjoys a cooler, drier climate that contributes to excellent playing conditions throughout the year.

The course’s natural contours, beautiful golf holes, and pristine conditions have earned Comanche Trace a strong reputation among golfers throughout Texas and beyond.

Three Nines. Endless Possibilities.

The Valley begins at the highest point of the property before winding down into a scenic valley bowl. The fifth hole features two memorable Hill Country landmarks: a century-old live oak affectionately known as Old Gnarly and a historic rock sheep barn near the green. With its elevation changes and uphill approaches, The Valley rewards thoughtful club selection and strategic play.

The Hills lives up to its name, incorporating the natural Hill Country topography throughout the layout. Generous greens and landing areas provide opportunities for players of varying skill levels, while the elevation changes create an enjoyable challenge for those who choose to walk the course.

The Creeks can stretch to approximately 3,700 yards and offers a distinctive combination of strategic holes and natural surroundings. The clubhouse provides a useful directional landmark on holes six and seven, while the layout’s design encourages players to approach each hole according to its intended strategy.

Comanche Trace’s 15-acre practice facility provides everything golfers need to sharpen their game. Tee boxes are available at both ends of the facility, while the south end features a complete short-game area with a dedicated pitching and putting green, along with a fairway bunker and greenside bunker.

Additional golf amenities include:

Private Golf Carts

Residents with golf carts are welcome to use them throughout the community and from the first tee to the 18th hole. All private carts must be inspected annually and approved by golf staff.

Comanche Trace regularly welcomes competitive golfers and prestigious events from across Texas and beyond. The course has hosted qualifier events for USGA championships, including the U.S. Open and U.S. Senior Open, as well as qualifying events for the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open.

The course also hosts PGA section competitions, collegiate and junior championships, Texas Golf Association events, and other competitive tournaments. Its combination of challenging architecture, natural beauty, excellent course conditions, and professional facilities makes Comanche Trace a destination for golfers at every level.
